Advisory

Jersey Avenue closed for ongoing Veolia repairs in Jersey City; Hoboken Boil Water Advisory remains in effect

Due to ongoing excavation and repairs of a water main break in Jersey City, on the border of southwest Hoboken, Jersey Avenue is closed in both directions at 18th Street in Jersey City. This road closure will be in place until repairs are complete, likely through tonight's evening commute and into the overnight hours.

Eastbound traffic coming into Hoboken on Jersey Avenue will be diverted onto 18th Street. Westbound traffic on Observer Highway is detoured onto Grove Street and Henderson/Marin Street. Hoboken and Jersey City Police officers are on site to assist with traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and oversize trucks.

Residents and businesses are reminded that a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Boil Water Advisory remains in effect until further notice. The Boil Water Advisory is a necessary precaution, as water pressure fell below the recommended threshold during Veolia repairs. Veolia will notify Hoboken customers when the NJDEP lifts the advisory.
