Deputies Investigating the Source of a Skimming Device Placed at a Gas Station in Phelan

LOCATION: 7-11, 4074 Phelan Road, Phelan
SUSPECT: Unknown
SUMMARY: Deputies are asking for assistance from the community in identifying the suspect(s) responsible for placing a skimming device on the fuel pumps of 7-11 in Phelan. The victim found fraudulent charges on his bank account and reported it to law enforcement. Deputies responded to the 7-11, where the victim last used his debit card, and located a skimming device on one of the keypads.
When using a credit card at the fuel pump, carefully inspect the card reader for any signs of tampering. When possible, use a fuel pump close to the store where it will be visible to store employees. Always shield your PIN when entering it on the keypad.
