Deputies Arrest Suspect Who Threatened a Female in Unincorporated Bloomington
DATE/TIME: Sunday, February 16, 2025 / 2:34 P.M.
INCIDENT: Assault With a Weapon, Hate Crime
LOCATION: 10000 block of Linden Avenue, unincorporated Bloomington
VICTIM: Adult female
SUSPECT: David Gilbert, a 56-year-old unhoused male who frequents Bloomington
SUMMARY: On Sunday, February 16, 2025, at about 2:34 p.m., Fontana Station deputies responded to an in-progress assault with a weapon in the 10000 block of Linden Avenue. Deputies arrived and found David Gilbert, a 56-year-old unhoused male who frequents Bloomington, at the scene. Gilbert matched the description of the suspect, and deputies recognized him from previous calls in the area. Gilbert was safely detained.
Through investigation, deputies learned the victim asked Gilbert to move his vehicle and trailer. While near the victim, Gilbert threatened her with the knife, made stabbing motions, and several comments indicating his actions were based upon her race, ethnicity, and perceived immigration status. The victim was unharmed, and the weapon was located nearby. At the conclusion of the investigation, Gilbert was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for assault with a weapon and hate crime.
