Moments ago, murder suspect Matthew Alexander was taken into custody after a brief standoff with the SWAT team. Alexander is wanted by the Rockford Police Department (Winnebago County, Illinois).

This operation underscores our commitment to public safety and law enforcement collaboration. We will not allow violent offenders to seek refuge in Clayton County. Our elite teams remain dedicated to bringing criminals to justice, no matter where they try to hide.

In collaboration with the FBI’s Violent Crimes Unit, Forest Park Police Chief Brandon Criss, Forest Park Fire Chief Latosha Clemons, Clayton County Police Chief Kevin Roberts, and Clayton County Fire Chief Tim Sweat, we worked together to ensure a successful outcome—apprehending Alexander without incident or loss of life.
