On Tuesday, February 19, 2025, around 2:15 p.m., SLPD officers responded to Quik Stop, located at 1001 MacArthur Boulevard, to investigate an armed robbery. 

Officers learned the suspect, later identified as 51-year-old Deamous McKinley of Oakland, brandished a handgun at the store clerk and demanded money.  The clerk complied and handed over cash from the register.

SLPD detectives were able to utilize public safety cameras to determine the suspect vehicle was traveling in Oakland.  The suspect vehicle had also been reported as stolen. 

SLPD detectives located McKinley in the stolen vehicle near the area of Foothill Boulevard and 23rd Avenue in Oakland.  With the assistance of Oakland Police Department's air unit, detectives were able to take McKinley into custody without incident.  A handgun and cash were recovered from the scene.  

McKinley was placed under arrest for robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
