Gun Fired During a Domestic Dispute and Unrelated Victim is Struck; Suspect Located and Arrested
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
INCIDENT: P.C 245(a)(2)- Assault With a Firearm, P.C 246.3- Negligent Discharg of a Firearm, P.C 236- False Imprisonment and P.C 273.5 (a)- Spousal abuse
LOCATION: 3000 Block of Duffy Street, Muscoy
SUSPECT(S): Vito Luna, 46-year-old, resident of Muscoy
VICTIM(S): Confidential: Two Female Adults
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 3000 block of Duffy Street, in the unincorporated area of Muscoy, to a report of a shooting at an inhabited dwelling. Deputies contacted a female victim and discovered she was seated in her living room when an unknown person discharged a firearm towards her residence. A bullet traveled through the victim's residence, ultimately striking her in the upper body. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, deputies learned the shooting occurred during a prior unrelated incident. Through further investigation, deputies learned Vito Luna was involved in a domestic dispute with a second female victim. Sometime during the dispute, Luna discharged a firearm, which ultimately struck the first female victim. Luna fled the area in a white Nissan Pathfinder after the shooting.
On Monday, February 17, 2025, members of the Sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) and Central Station's Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) served a search warrant at Luna's residence in Muscoy. Luna was contacted at the residence and placed under arrest for P.C 245(a)(2)- Assault With a Firearm, P.C 246.3- Negligent Discharge of a Firearm, P.C 236- False Imprisonment, and P.C 273.6(a)- Spousal abuse. Luna was booked into the Central Detention Center, where he is being held on $350,000.00 bail.
