It’s time to prepare for the record setting snowfall we received this month.  Forecast high winds may cause blowing and drifting snow later today.   Poor travel conditions expected for I-90, reduced visibility and rural roads may drift closed and become impassable.   Warmer temperatures will limit blowing snow this weekend and increase the risk of flooding. 
Prepare for overland flooding.  24-hour snowmelt expected this weekend.  Protect buildings by removing excess snow from the immediate area.  If there is uphill snow, consider using sandbags to divert runoff from entering structures.   Rivers and streams are at risk of ice-jams and related flooding.  Be aware of potential flooding in unexpected areas.  Local hardware stores have limited sandbag supplies.
