Pedestrian Struck in Hit-and-Run; Suspect Arrested

EMERYVILLE, CA — On February 19, 2025, at approximately 3:40 PM, a solo female pedestrian was walking in the rear parking lot of BevMo (5717 Christie Ave) when she was struck from behind by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle, which had turned in from Shellmound Street, did not stop after the collision and fled the scene. The vehicle was last seen speeding back onto Shellmound Street.

Officers quickly responded and utilized FLOCK License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras to track down the suspect’s vehicle and a photo of the driver. A license plate was identified, leading officers to locate the suspect vehicle in Oakland. Surveillance was established on the vehicle until the suspect returned to it on February 20, 2025, at around 7:00 AM. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The male suspect, was positively identified in surveillance video footage and was interviewed by Detectives. He was subsequently transported to Santa Rita Jail.

The victim, an adult female, remains in critical condition as a result of the collision.

Though the suspect is now in custody, this investigation is still ongoing. At this time, no further information will be released.
