Police Seek Help Identifying Armed Robbery Suspects and Vehicle
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspects and vehicle in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
At approximately 8:35 p.m., a man seated inside his vehicle in the 200 block of McWhorter Street was approached by a male suspect who opened his driver’s side door, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded his money and vehicle in Spanish. A second male suspect opened the vehicle’s front passenger door and went through the victim’s pockets. The victim pressed the horn of his car, resulting in the suspects assaulting him and fleeing into a gray Dodge Durango, which headed westbound on Johnson Street towards New Jersey Railroad Avenue.
Robbery detectives describe Suspect No. 1 as wearing a black sweater featuring the word “BEAST” in white lettering and red sneakers. Suspect No. 2 was wearing a black coat and black pants. The gray Dodge Durango featured black rims, a front hood scoop, no front plate, and possibly tinted windows.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information regarding the identity of either of these suspects or the suspects’ vehicle to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
