WATER EMERGENCY UPDATE – MORNING BRIEFING (02/24/2025)
We are pleased to report that our water system is making significant progress, as expected, overnight. We remain on track with our operational schedule, with full recovery still estimated by Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

At this time, all community response and safety measures remain unchanged.

Boil Order Still in Effect:
Please continue to boil all water used for consumption or hygiene. Even after the water system is operational, the Boil Order will remain in place until proper sample testing confirms the water is safe. We will notify the community when the order is lifted.

Public Closures & Restrictions:
- Tonkawa Public Schools & Northern Oklahoma College - Tonkawa Campus remains closed.
- Water-dependent businesses must remain closed.
-  The City of Tonkawa has suspended utility cut-offs for today.  

Potable Water Distribution Sites:
We have two (2) Potable Water Distribution Sites where residents can fill containers with clean, potable water from water trailers.
- Railroad Depot at E. Grand Ave. & 6th Street (just east of the Depot)
-Across from Tonkawa City Offices on S. 7th Street
Please ensure that faucets and valves are closed properly after filling your containers to prevent water waste.

Bottled Water Distribution Stations:
Complimentary bottled water is available at two locations in Tonkawa. Each family is asked to take what they need, with no more than two cases per day as the standard guideline.
Venture Foods – 1315 N. Main Street
Tonkawa Street Department – 207 S. 7th Street

Home Water Delivery for Those in Need:
For residents unable to travel to a distribution site, we are offering water deliveries 2-3 times daily. To sign up for this service, please contact the Tonkawa Police Department at (580) 628-2516. You will need to provide your name, address, and contact phone number.

We continue to coordinate with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality and the State of Oklahoma Emergency Management to ensure a smooth recovery.
