Narrative:
On February 20th, 2025, Ventura County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call for service of a residential burglary alarm activation in the 1200 block of Dumaine Ave in the unincorporated area of Oak Park.  East County Patrol Deputies quickly arrived on scene and confirmed a residential burglary had just occurred.  Responding deputies were able to obtain a description of the suspect’s vehicle and asked dispatchers to share that information with allied law enforcement agencies in the area, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lost Hills Station.

A few moments later, LASO Deputies with the Lost Hills Station saw the vehicle driving southbound on US 101 and made an enforcement stop.  East County Patrol Services Deputies responded to the location and took custody of the driver, after confirming that he was involved in the burglary.  Detectives with the East County Investigations Bureau responded to assist with the investigation at the residence and the location of the enforcement stop.  The driver was in possession of fictitious government documents, and a fictitious license plate was attached to his vehicle.
Detectives determined the suspect was part of a Transnational Organized Crime Burglary Crew.  The suspect was identified as Carlos Ernesto Aranguren Jimenez.

Jimenez was booked into the Ventura County Jail for one count of PC 459 – Residential burglary, PC 182(a)(1) – Conspiracy to commit a crime, and PC 472 – Possession of a counterfeit government seal, and PC 135 – Destroying Evidence.  The suspect remains in custody with bail set at $250,000.00 and an arraignment scheduled for 2/24/2025 at 1:30pm at the Ventura County Superior Court.

The arrest of this suspect was made possible by the citizens of Ventura County and their quick decision to call the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office to report these crimes.  The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reminds the citizens of the Conejo Valley that our cities are an extremely safe community.  However, this sense of safety is occasionally exploited by the criminal element.  The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department would like to remind citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious people and vehicles by promptly calling 911 or our non-emergency line of (805) 654-9511. If you see something, say something.

The East County Investigations Bureau continues to combat property crimes through keeping the community informed of current crime trends while aggressively pursuing and arresting those that chose to do us harm.
