Wind Storm Update: Multiple Road Closures & City Facilities on Delayed Opening

City facilities will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25 due to widespread power outages and road closures in the area. BIPD and Public Works crews will continue operating as necessary.

The City of Bainbridge Island carefully evaluates conditions before deciding to delay the opening of City facilities (including City Hall, the Municipal Court, and Police administration) or close them entirely. We monitor roadway conditions, communicate with school districts and other Kitsap County agencies, and keep a close watch on changing weather forecasts.

We also keep in mind that 70% of our workforce commutes from off-island. We consider the following factors:
• Current and forecasted weather conditions
• Road conditions across Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County
• Kitsap County school delays or closures
• Safety of employees and the public

There are multiple road closures across Bainbridge Island at this time:
1. Miller Road / Justin road closed - tree on wires.
2. High School between Strawberry Hill Park and Sands closed - tree in wires.
3. 5530 Eagle Harbor - tree in wires partially blocking.
4. Pine off New Sweden closed - tree in wires.
5. Day Road East at Sunrise closed - tree in wires.
6. 5140 New Sweden closed - power pole snapped tree down.
7. 13136 Sunrise - small tree in power line, road not closed.
8. 4498 Old Mill/ Woodsman closed - power lines down.

Signals are out along Highway 305. Treat intersections as a four-way stop and drive carefully.
