Deputies Respond to a Home in Apple Valley Where a Lethal Force Encounter Occurs

DATE/TIME: February 24, 2025 / 9:32 p.m.

INCIDENT: Lethal Force Encounter (LFE)

LOCATION: 10700 Block of Central Road, Apple Valley

INVOLVED PARTY: Elijah Brown, 18-years-old, Resident of Apple Valley

SUMMARY:
On Monday, February 24, 2025, at about 9:32 p.m., deputies from Victor Valley Station responded to a 911 call from a residence.  The caller described a Black male wearing black clothing, trying to break into her residence.  Two deputies, both wearing body worn cameras, arrived together and detained a Black male in the driveway of the residence, who claimed to live at the location.

One of the deputies requested the caller exit the residence.  After a short period of time, three of the occupants exited the residence hastily, followed by a Black male subject, later identified as Elijah Brown, who was armed with a large knife.  A lethal force encounter occurred, and Brown was struck by gunfire.  Brown was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening wounds and is in stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division also responded and assumed the investigation.  Brown’s involvement is unknown at this time as he has not been interviewed.  The investigation is ongoing.
