Alcohol Compliance Checks
On 02-26-25 the Janesville Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks at 8 local businesses that sell alcohol. The purpose of completing these checks is to ensure that businesses are checking identification and not selling to underage persons.
The checks are conducted by having an 18-20 year old attempt to purchase alcohol from a business. If the underage person is allowed to purchase, the clerk is cited for selling the alcohol. The information is also forwarded to the City of Janesville Alcohol Licensing Committee for their review.
Of the checks that were conducted on 02-26-25, 4 businesses sold to the underage person. They are:
Smokes and Spirits 2502 Center Ave.
Romans 108 Center Ave.
