SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN has been made aware of multiple scams occurring in Clayton. The most recent scams involve a toll or express lane warrant and a federal jury duty warrant.

All reports regarding scams are being investigated, and we are taking proactive measures to safeguard and educate the residents of Clayton County against potential fraudulent activities.

Scammers are posing as bonding agents, federal agents, and deputy sheriffs, claiming that you must pay to have warrants removed or to get someone out of jail.

It's important to note that the Clayton County Sheriff's Office will NEVER solicit payments over the phone, nor will we request payments through platforms such as Cash App, Zelle, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Venmo, or gift cards. We will never instruct you to go to Walgreens or CVS for a money order.

If you have a loved one in custody, please visit the SHERIFF'S OFFICE directly at 9157 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, GA 30236, or contact the bonding company of your choice. Under no circumstances should you engage in business transactions or provide personal information over the phone.

Perpetrators are posing as employees of the Sheriff's Office, utilizing spoofed Sheriff's Office numbers to deceive individuals into making payments while masquerading as SHERIFF'S OFFICE personnel.

If you receive a call claiming that you have missed jury duty and requesting payment, it is advisable to terminate the call and verify by contacting the Clayton County Sheriff's Office at 770-477-4479.
