Wilmington police arrest wanted man on gun charges:
Wilmington Police have arrested a wanted man on gun charges.
On February 23, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division conducted a vehicle stop in the area of West 11th and North Washington Streets. Police made contact with the driver – 34-year-old Kevin Britt – who was found to be wanted on an unrelated matter. At this time, Britt fled the area in his vehicle, which was located a short time later in the area of West 14th and North Washington Streets, where Britt fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, Britt was taken into custody without further incident. Police recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun that had previously been reported stolen.
Britt has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations and his outstanding warrant:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree) – Three Counts
- Resisting Arrest
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
