Wilmington Police have arrested a male juvenile on gun charges.
On February 25, at approximately 3:17 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were in the 300 block of East 23rd Street, when they observed a male subject acting in a suspicious manner. Police attempted to make contact with the male, at which time he fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, police took a 14-year-old male juvenile into custody without incident, who was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun that had previously been reported stolen.
The 14-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $25,000 cash-only bail.
