Thompson Hill Elevated Water Storage Tank Progress Report
February 28, 2025
To the Citizens of Sonora,
I am pleased to share an important update regarding the Thompson Hill Elevated Water Storage Tank rehabilitation project. On January 13th, the City of Sonora began this rehabilitation process with the assistance of USG Water Solutions, a company specializing in water infrastructure improvements. As part of this project, the tank underwent full repainting of both the interior and exterior, as well as necessary mechanical repairs to ensure its continued functionality to TCEQ standards.
I am proud to report that this project is now complete. Following the rehabilitation, water samples were collected and sent for bacterial testing. The results have been returned with no issues, confirming that our water remains safe for consumption. City employees have now placed the storage tank back into operation, and it is currently servicing our community.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the residents of the Thompson Hill area for your patience and understanding during this process. Maintaining our city’s water infrastructure is essential to ensuring the longevity of our resources, and we appreciate your support in making this project a success.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to our community.
Sincerely,
Arturo Fuentes
City Manager
