SUMMARY: On Saturday, March 1, 2025, at approximately 9:29 P.M., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station responded to a call for service regarding an armed robbery. Deputies arrived at the Arco Gas Station, located at 11768 Foothill Blvd, where they contacted the reporting party and learned the suspect had already fled the scene. An extensive area check for the suspect was unsuccessful.

Through investigation, deputies learned the suspect entered the location, placed several items into a bag, and walked toward the exit doors, bypassing points of sale without paying. The clerk confronted the suspect however, he exited the store. Once outside the store, the suspect shattered the front glass doors to the business with an unknown object before leaving the building. A description of the suspect was provided to deputies.

On Monday, March 3, 2025, at approximately 1:18 A.M., Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station deputies contacted a male subject who matched the robbery suspect’s description. The suspect, later identified as George Washington Barnes, was confirmed as the suspect from the robbery at Arco. Barnes wore the same clothing worn during the time of the robbery and was found in possession of some stolen items. During a search of Barnes’ person, deputies located two knives affixed with glass breakers on them. It is believed Barnes used the knives to break the glass after the robbery.

Barnes was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC211-Robbery and PC459-Burglary.
