SUMMARY: On Sunday, March 2, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Deputy Omar Zavala responded to Walmart in Yucca Valley to investigate a shoplifting incident in progress. Upon arrival, Zavala met with the Walmart Loss Prevention Officers to review live footage of the theft. The suspect, later identified as Angel Castro, was seen grabbing a bottle of alcohol from a shelf and drinking it inside the store. Castro was also observed eating other consumable goods.
Castro walked past all points of sale and toward the parking lot without paying for any of the items. Zavala intercepted Castro at the exit, but Castro refused to comply with Zavala's orders.
