Evacuation Warning effective 6:00 AM March 5, 2025 - March 7, 2025. No street parking in affected areas.
Important public safety update regarding the upcoming winter storms.
This week’s storm is categorized as Phase 1 event, leading the City of Sierra Madre to issue an Evacuation Warning for high-risk areas, effective at 6:00 AM on Wednesday, March 5, until 6:00 AM on Friday, March 7.
Since the Evacuation Warning will go in effect on March 5, 2025, the evacuation status will reflect “normal” until then. You may see the the "Evacuation Warning" on the Genasys App once it goes into effect on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 (6:00 AM).
NO STREET PARKING IN AREAS DESIGNATED AS EVACUATION WARNING OR EVACUATION ORDER
This storm cycle is different from the mid-February winter storm. The debris basins were cleared in anticipation of the upcoming winter storms. The last storm filled every debris basin to capacity, and while County and City contractors have been working tirelessly to clear them, they are not empty. Any significant rainfall could lead to severe flooding, mudflows, and debris flows. Once the flow starts, it is too late to evacuate. If a mudflow occurs, public safety and public works personnel will not be able to enter an active debris flow zone.
This means that if you stay behind, you may be trapped for days before
emergency crews can reach you. Please, do not put yourself in that position. We are urging all residents in at-risk areas to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. If an Evacuation Order is issued, you need to go; Do not wait. Do not take chances.
When an Evacuation Warning is issued, that is your signal to prepare—pack your essentials, secure your home, and have a plan for where you will go. If an Evacuation Order is issued, it is mandatory—you must leave immediately.
Ignoring an Evacuation Order not only puts you at risk, but also first responders. Police officers and fire personnel will not be able to assist you once conditions become too dangerous.
What You Need to Do Now:
✔ Stay alert – Monitor weather updates and city alerts.
✔ Be prepared – Have your emergency bag and plan ready.
✔ Follow orders – If told to evacuate, do so immediately.
✔ Red Flag Parking Restrictions-Are in effect with evacuation Warnings and Evacuation Orders.
✔Sandbags are available for residents at the City Yard.
