...RED FLAG WARNING THURSDAY 11 AM TO 7 PM FOR ZONES ALONG AND EAST OF I-25 DUE TO STRONG WIND AND LOW HUMIDITY... .A storm system crossing the Great Basin will steer a southwesterly jet stream over New Mexico on Thursday producing peak wind gusts from 50 to 65 mph at the surface. Humidities will plummet near and below 18 percent in zones along and east of I-25, where high temperatures will climb up to 13 degrees above 1991-2020 averages. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from noon to 7 PM MST Thursday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AREA AND TIMING...Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), Sandia and Manzano Mountains (Zone 124), Central and Northeast Highlands (Zones 125 and 123), and the Northeast and East Central Plains (Zones 104 and 126) from noon until 7 PM MST.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 25 to 40 mph with gusts peaking between 50 and 65 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Bottoming out between 10 to 20 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHEAST PLAINS ... MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY ... NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS ... SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS ... CENTRAL HIGHLANDS ... EAST CENTRAL PLAINS
