The Moorpark Police Department is hosting a Citizen’s Academy at the Moorpark Police Services Center located at 610 Spring Rd. in Moorpark. The Citizen’s Academy is an 8-week course designed to give participants an overview of the units within the police department and foster positive interactions with members of the public. Participants will hear from investigators from various assignments throughout the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Law Enforcement Explorers, and the Moorpark Volunteers in Policing. Participants will also be afforded the opportunity to participate in a tour of the Moorpark Police Department, the Pre-Trial Detention Facility (jail) in Ventura, the Ventura County Criminal Justice Training Center (Training Academy) in Camarillo, and more. Participants must be at least 18 years of age, have no felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions within one year of applying. The course will be limited to 20 participants, so please do not wait to apply. This course is free and will be held every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. from March 26th through May 14th, 2025.
