Crash Under Investigation
South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau is continuing to investigate a serious crash that took place on Route 1 Tuesday evening. The crash took place at 7:30 pm when a Dodge Ram Pickup ran through a red traffic signal on Whispering Woods Drive and Route 1. The pickup truck entered the intersection and was struck by multiple cars on the southbound side of the highway. The pickup truck, which had several juvenile passengers including 3 in the rear bed of the pickup, overturned and landed upright. Eight people were injured in the crash. Multiple EMS units responded and transported the injured to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. One person remains in serious condition.

South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka said, "This crash on Route 1 is a prime example of the issues we are attempting to address as part of the Middlesex County Prosecutor Route 1 Safer Travel Initiative. Our Traffic Safety Bureau is investigating all the facts in this case. The actions seen so far show a blatant disregard for the safety of all motorists. I assure you charges will be forthcoming."
