Burn Ban Remains in Effect for McDowell County
Due to hazardous weather conditions that are forecasted including gusty winds, the burn ban for all open burning within 100 feet of a strucutre continues. Wind gusts of 25-30 mph are expected on Saturday afternoon leading to high fire danager once again. The burn ban remains in effect in an effort to protect life and property.
The ban applies to all open burning within 100 feet of a structure including:
- Yard waste
- Debris
- Land-clearing burns
This ban does not affect N.C. Forest Service permitted, controlled, and attended fires more than 100 feet from a structure as the NCFS regulates this activity.
