New York has issued a burn ban for New York City, Long Island and the Lower Hudson Valley, effective now through March 16th, when the statewide burn ban begins. Due to a continuing period of dry weather conditions expected in the coming days and an increasing potential for wildfires, there is great concern that wildfires could unexpectedly and rapidly increase, thereby endangering the health, safety, and property of New Yorkers.

This burn ban prohibits the starting of outdoor fires for purposes of brush and debris disposal.
