On March 9, 2025, homicide investigators responded to the Men’s Central Jail following an assault on deputies during a routine inmate movement.
During the incident, a deputy was attacked by several inmates. Assisting deputies intervened and successfully stopped the assault. The involved inmates were detained.
Four deputies were transported by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department personnel to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. One deputy sustained a puncture-type injury, but he is expected to recover. All deputies were treated and released. The inmates were also medically evaluated and will remain in-custody at the Men’s Central Jail.
