Murder Suspect Arrested
On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at approximately 7:40 PM, Pomona Police patrol officers responded to a male down in the 1600 block of Indian Hill Blvd. in the City of Pomona. When officers and Los Angeles County Fire personnel arrived, they found 31-year-old James Bunch of Pomona suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bunch was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded to the scene to assume the investigation. During their extensive investigation, MCU investigators were able to identify 30-year-old Jose Oquendo Jr. of Pomona as being involved in the murder of James Bunch.
Oquendo was arrested and booked at the Pomona City Jail. On Monday, March 10, 2025, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed the following charges:
187 (a) PC – Murder
29800(a)(1) PC- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
