Wilmington Police have arrested a wanted man on gun charges.
On March 5, at approximately 7:38 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the 700 block of North Madison Street, conducting a firearm investigation. Police made contact with 25-year-old Nizere Fitzgerald, who was found to be wanted on an unrelated matter. Following a brief investigation, Fitzgerald was taken into custody without incident, and was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun that had previously been reported stolen.
Fitzgerald has been charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrant:
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was released after posting $13,000 cash-only bail.
