The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, MARCH 3, 2025:
 
4:27 PM Officer Jackman responded to the report of a commercial burglary near Mirabeau & Orleans Dr.
 
4:56 PM Officer Lomeli investigated a report of a battery that occurred near Mowry Ave & Cherry St.
 
6:24 PM Officer Williams was dispatched to a commercial burglary near Ash St & Thornton Ave. The rear door of the building was kicked in.
 
6:59 PM Officer Dale investigated the residential burglary near Port Sailwood Dr & Cedar Blvd. A bicycle was taken from the garage.
 
8:29 PM Officer Cervantes responded to a report of a suspicious person in connection to a theft that took place in the area of Cherry St & Dairy Ave.
 
10:21 PM Officer Dale initiated a traffic stop near Thornton Ave & Cherry St and a cited a 52-year-old male for an outstanding warrant.
 
TUESDAY, MARCH 4, 2025:
 
12:04 AM Officer Cervantes responded to a battery that occurred near Thornton Ave & Cherry St. A 23-year-old female was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was released with a citation.
 
12:53 AM Officer Williams initiated a traffic stop near Cedar Ct & Cedar Blvd. A 40-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:43 AM Officer Quinonez responded to the theft of vehicle tires reported near Graham & Sycamore St.
 
8:17 AM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle theft reported on Joaquin Murieta Ave. The vehicle was later recovered by a neighboring agency.
 
9:09 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a vehicle burglary near Thornton Ave & Spruce St. The driver side door handle was forced open, and various power tools were taken from vehicle.
 
10:49 AM CSO Lau investigated the theft of vehicle tires near Civic Terrace Ave & Newark Blvd.  
 
5:51 PM Officer C. Torres responded to the area of Sycamore St & Graham Ave for a vehicle burglary. The passenger window was shattered, and the glovebox and storage compartments were rummaged through.
 
10:22 PM Officer Dale investigated a vehicle theft near Cherry St & Dairy Ave. A 22-year-old male was arrested for vehicle theft and theft of property and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, 2025:
 
9:31 AM Officers initiated a pedestrian stop on Ardenwood Blvd & Kaiser Dr. A 44-year-old male was arrested for outstanding warrants, resisting arrest, and possession of narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
5:13 PM CSO Lau was dispatched to the theft of a vehicle registration and electronics from Lido Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
8:26 PM Officer Quinonez investigated a series of package thefts reported near Hickory St & Seawind Way. A 46-year-old male was arrested for theft and narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
THURSDAY, MARCH 6, 2025:
 
6:58 AM Officer Berlanga responded to a vehicle burglary reported near Cedar & Lido Blvd. The rear windshield was shattered, reported loss included a storage case containing industrial tools.
 
11:29 AM Officer Shaffer was dispatched to a domestic disturbance reported near Sycamore St & Thornton Ave. A 22-year-old male was arrested for robbery and assault. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:36 AM Officer Lor was investigated a shoplifting incident reported near Cedar Blvd & Central Ave.
 
12:30 PM Officer Shaffer investigated a jewelry swap scam reported on Birch St & Cedar Blvd.
 
8:22 PM Officer C. Torres arrested a 27-year-old male for an outstanding warrant near Olive St & Thornton Ave. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2025:
 
8:29 AM Officer Berlanga was dispatched to Central Ave & Willow St for a vehicle burglary. A backpack containing electronics was reported taken.
 
9:13 AM Officer Shaffer responded to a report of dogs running off leash near Filbert & Sycamore St. A 30-year-old male was arrested for violating a court order. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
3:22 PM Officer Berlanga was dispatched to a grand theft reported near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
5:29 PM Officer Lara investigated a commercial burglary near Clark Ave & Cherry St. Gardening tools were reported taken.
 
7:01 PM Officer Medina responded to Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd for multiple reports of shoplifting. A 43-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for theft, possession of narcotics, and violating the terms of his probation.
 
SATURDAY, MARCH 8, 2025:
 
2:50 AM Officer Diaz-Perez was dispatched to a disturbance near Graham Ave & Cherry St. A 29-year-old male was arrested for vandalism, burglary, corporal injury and violating the terms of his probation.
 
6:22 AM Officer Stevenson responded to a commercial burglary near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd.
 
11:18 PM Officer Losier conducted a traffic stop on Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. A 43-year-old male was cited for operating a vehicle with expired registration, false license plates, and possession of narcotics.
 
SUNDAY, MARCH 9, 2025:
 
8:25 AM Officer Jackman responded to a window smash vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Rd. Reported loss included industrial tools.
 
10:49 AM Officer Taylor investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Stevenson Blvd & Parada St.
 
1:38 PM Officers were dispatched to a robbery on Newpark Mall Road. Upon arrival, it was determined that the suspects intentionally reversed a vehicle into the retail business to force entry. Over a dozen individuals and six vehicles were involved, shattering glass display cases and stealing a significant amount of jewelry. The exact value of the stolen items remains unknown and is currently under investigation. The entire incident occurred in less than one minute. One person inside the business sustained minor cuts. This investigation is ongoing.
