Thousand Oaks Deputies arrested a suspect involved in an explosion incident in the city of Thousand Oaks. On 3/11/2025, at approximately 1531 hours, Thousand Oaks Patrol Deputies responded to a call for service in the 2000 block of Hendrix Avenue. Patrol Deputies arrived on scene and learned (S) David Kornbluth had ignited materials at his home which resulted in an explosion and minor injuries to Kornbluth’s hands. Kornbluth was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries and was later discharged. An exigent search of the scene was done due to the possible immediate threat to public safety. Additional materials were located inside the residence, which were believed to be explosive in nature. Detectives served a search warrant at the residence and located additional items consistent with creating explosives. All items were seized as evidence, and the home and surrounding neighborhood were determined to be safe. Kornbluth was arrested for one count of PC 18710 – Possession of a destructive device, and PC - 18720 – Possession of a substance or material to create a destructive device. Kornbluth was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, and his bail was set at $100,000.
