Yucca Valley Man Arrested After Making Several Calls Requesting Deputies Respond to His Location to Fight

LOCATION: 58947 Twentynine Palms Highway, Yucca Valley
SUSPECT(S): Anthony Canada, 32-year-old resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station Deputies
SUMMARY: On Sunday, March 9, 2025, at approximately 9:19 p.m., Anthony Canada called sheriff's dispatch. He cursed at the dispatcher and demanded deputies respond so he could fight them. Deputies did not respond. At approximately 10:02 p.m., deputies responded to an unrelated call for service at Walmart, located at 58501 Twentynine Palms Highway, in the town of Yucca Valley. Canada's call to sheriff's dispatch was from an area where he could see deputies arrive at Walmart. While outside of Walmart, deputies observed a vehicle slowly approach them. The vehicle drove close to the deputies and sped up, passing them at a signficant speed. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be Canada. Canada was arrested and booked into the Morongo jail.
Canada is known by deputies due his several calls to dispatch and the calls for service to his residence. Canada has threatened the safety of law enforcement officers in the Morongo Basin several times. There are currently several open investigations involving Canada.
