Alleged Swatting call at the Cloquet High & Middle--ALL CLEAR

On March 13, 2025, at approximately 12:16 p.m., Carlton County Dispatch received a report of a bomb threat and a person carrying a rifle at Cloquet High School.

A school resource officer (SRO) on-site and other local law enforcement responded to the schools and found no evidence to support the reported threat.

Students from Cloquet High School and Cloquet Middle School were evacuated to designated evacuation sites while police swept the buildings.

For precautionary measures, a bomb detection dog from the Duluth Police Department was brought to check the premises. The canine did not indicate the presence of any explosives.

Once the sweep was completed, the Cloquet Police Department (CPD) notified school staff that it was safe to return, issuing an "All Clear" notice.

School staff then informed families that they could pick up their children at the evacuation sites or return to the schools for regular dismissal once the all-clear was given.

Based on the information gathered, CPD believes this incident is a swatting hoax and that there was no real threat. The CPD is collaborating with state agencies to gather more information about the call.
