...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TODAY BETWEEN NOON AND 8 PM FOR THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS BELOW SNOWPACK AND ALL OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR FRIDAY BETWEEN NOON AND 8 PM FOR THE NORTHEAST AND EAST CENTRAL PLAINS DUE TO EXTREMELY STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... .Strong southwest winds, above average temperatures and very low humidities will continue in zones along and east of I-25 through this evening. Winds will continue strengthen tonight and Friday morning reaching up to 80 mph across the northeast and east central plains. These high winds combined with minimum relative humidity values in the low and mid teens and very dry fine fuels will result in rapid and explosive fire growth. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from noon to 8 PM MDT Friday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AREA AND TIMING...This includes the East Central Plains (Zone 126) through this evening and Friday between noon and 8 PM.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Today, southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. On Friday, west winds of 40 to 55 mph with gusts up to 80 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum humidity values between 10 and 18 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly and will be hard to control. Long range spotting and extreme fire behavior will be possible. Outdoor burning should not be done.

* AFFECTED AREAS: EAST CENTRAL PLAINS
