Deputies Investigating Swatting Call after Massive Police Response at Loma Linda University Medical Center

DATE/TIME: Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at about 6:00 p.m.

INCIDENT: PC 148.3, False Police Report (Swatting)

LOCATION: 11234 Anderson Street, Loma Linda, CA, 92354

SUSPECT(S): Unknown

VICTIM(S): State of California

SUMMARY: On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department received a phone call from an unknown subject calling in an emergency. The caller told dispatch he was in front of Loma Linda Hospital armed and also had a bomb. He also stated he wanted to kill people and was planning on "shooting up" everyone in the hospital.

Personnel from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department arrived at Loma Linda University Medical Center to investigate the 911 call. Deputies from the Sheriff's Department, members of the Specialized Enforcement Division, and several other assisting police agencies conducted extensive searches of the hospital and its surrounding buildings. Personnel did not locate anyone with an assault rifle and no victims were located. There were no signs of any active shooter. Extensive resources were used in response to the call for service, which was later determined to be a false report or “swatting call.”

Detectives from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Central Station are diligently working the case in an attempt to locate and identify the suspect who made the false report.

Sheriff Shannon Dicus said, "“Law enforcement officers responded from two counties taking away their ability to handle emergency calls in their own communities. Patients and their families were subject to much more trauma than they were already going through. Terrified hospital staff went above and beyond to protect the patients. All of this caused by a hoax to falsely portray a catastrophic event. We are going to use every means necessary to identity the suspect or suspects responsible for this heinous crime and hold them accountable.”
