Today at approximately 5:45 pm, Fairfield Police officers responded to the Motel 6 located on Holiday Lane, following reports that man with a gun had shot two people. Witnesses stated the man had fled into a room at the motel. 
 
Officers arrived and found one victim with minor injuries. Witnesses on scene said the suspect shot into the victim’s car, and the victim’s injuries were from broken glass, not a gun shot. 

All occupants in the motel were instructed to shelter in place. Officers secured the area and deployed the Bearcat - the department’s armored vehicle. 

Officers quickly contacted the suspect via phone in his motel room and, after brief negotiations, the man exited the room and was taken into custody without incident. 

Evidence was found on scene to support a shooting had taken place. The investigation is still currently underway. 
 
The suspect was identified as 63-year-old Fairfield resident Mario Moore.
