Deputies in Twentynine Palms Locate and Arrest Two Wanted Suspects; Both Remain in Custody



DATE/TIME: Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 1:31 a.m.

INCIDENT: PC 664/187 - Attempted Murder
                     PC 30305(a) - Felon in Possession of  Ammunition
                     PC 3455 - Post Release Community Supervision Violation

LOCATION: 7400 Block of Kellogg Avenue, Twentynine Palms 

SUSPECT1: John Chavarria, 49-year-old male, resident of Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT 2: Christina Mckenzie, 38-year-old female, resident of Twentynine Palms

VICTIM(S): Confidential


SUMMARY:  On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at approximately1:31 a.m., patrol personnel from the Morongo Basin Station conducted an investigative enforcement in the City of Twentynine Palms.  During this assignment, deputies followed up on leads regarding two wanted suspects - John Chavaria and Christina Mckenzie.  As a result of their investigation, deputies identified a residence in the 7400 block of Kellogg Avenue where the suspects were harbored.  Soon after their arrival, deputies located both suspects and after a brief struggle, they were taken into custody.

Chavarria was wanted for two active felony warrants for PC 664/187 - Attempted Murder and PC 30305(a) - Felon in Possession of Ammunition.  Mckenzie had an active felony warrant for PC 3455 - Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) Violation.  A PRCS violation is a form of supervision (county parole) provided to an inmate who was released from a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation State Prison to the jurisdiction of a county agency, pursuant to the Post-release Community Supervision Act of 2011.  Mckenzie violated the county parole terms and conditions of her release.

Both suspects were booked at the Morongo Basin Jail and are being held without bail.
