Rohnert Park, Calif. – On 3/14/2025 the Department of Public Safety conducted a DUI checkpoint on east bound Rohnert Park Expressway east of State Farm Dr.
1034 vehicles entered the check point and out of those, officers screened 967 vehicles. One (1) driver was arrested for driving on a suspended license due to a prior DUI and 10 others were cited for driving while unlicensed. All the vehicles were released to licensed drivers.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by educating the community on the dangers of impaired driving as well as taking suspected impaired drivers off the roads. "With the availability of rideshare, it is unacceptable to drive intoxicated", said Deputy Chief Aaron Johnson.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
