Severe Weather to affect Clay County this evening and overnight. Severe T-storms, heavy rain, wind and possible tornados.
This is a message from Clay County Emergency Services. The National Weather Service is predicting a strong storm system to affect the Clay County area overnight into Sunday morning. The weather system is expected to bring severe thunderstorms, heavy rain and high winds with the possibility of tornados overnight. Monitor local television reports, social media and National Weather Service Radio for any warnings issued as the severe weather moves into the area this evening and overnight. Now is the time to preplan with your family in case of a tornado and locate the safest place in your home to shelter. The safest place in the home is the interior room of a single-story house or the interior room of a basement. Locations include the center hallway, bathroom, or closet on the lowest floor of your home or building. Stay away from windows and doors and move from vehicles and mobile homes to a safer location when a tornado warning is issued. Currently, Clay County is under a High Wind Warning today until 8:00AM Sunday morning. No shelters are open at this time. Clay County Emergency Services and Clay County Government Officials are closely monitoring the incoming weather and officials will be working through the night until the storm has passed through the Clay County area.
