As of 6:30 a.m., we are under a TORNADO WATCH until 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 16, 2025.

A TORNADO WATCH is issued when there is a possibility of a tornado. A TORNADO WARNING is issued when a tornado has been sighted in the area, and there is an imminent threat to life and property.

According to the US National Weather Service Charleston SC, a strong cold front is headed our way and may bring severe weather as it moves offshore. Our window to see potentially severe weather is between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025. Forecasted potential weather threats include damaging winds, hail, lightning, and isolated tornadoes.

Please plan accordingly and be sure to have a way to receive weather-related warnings.

If you haven't already, please download the Everbridge app to your phone. It's available for free in the Android and Apple app stores. Once you download the app, allow all notifications and critical alerts. The app will then prompt you to enter your zip code. Once you do this, please subscribe to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office. By doing this, you ensure you receive all alerts from our agency, as well as alerts sent by the National Weather Service.
