Winter Weather Advisory until 01:00PM Tuesday
...ACCUMULATING SNOW FOR PARTS OF SOUTHEAST ALASKA... .Moisture rich onshore flow aloft will be lifted by the Coastal Mountains, resulting in another round of accumulating snowfall for Yakutat. Greatest snow rates will be associated with a warm push aloft. As air warms aloft, expect snow characteristic to become increasingly wet and dense before fully transitioning to rain in the afternoon. A second system will arrive Tuesday and sweep northward through Wednesday. As the system moves into the Haines area, colder temperatures will result in accumulating snow, with the greatest snowfall accumulations expected for the Haines Highway. Snowfall diminishes Wednesday afternoon as temperatures warm.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 4 inches.
* WHERE...City and Borough of Yakutat.
* WHEN...From 1 AM to 1 PM AKDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow is expected to begin somewhat dry and fluffy in nature, and become increasingly wet and dense overtime. Snow totals may be lower than expected due to compaction from dense snow falling on dry snow.
