The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, MARCH 10, 2025:
10:02 AM Officer Jackman responded to a shoplifting incident near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
12:01 PM Officer Pacheco responded to a retail theft on Newpark Mall Road.
1:41 PM Officer Shaffer was dispatched to a report of shoplifting near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
2:26 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau was dispatched to a license plate theft near Parada St & Stevenson Blvd.
3:37 PM While conducting a security check, Officer Pacheco contacted a 36-year-old male with an outstanding warrant. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
4:00 PM Officer Taylor was dispatched to a license plate theft near Willow St & Seawind Way.
7:00 PM Officer Dale conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration. Both occupants were determined to have suspended drivers’ licenses. One 43-year-old male was cited for possession of narcotics in and a violation of probation.
TUESDAY, MARCH 11, 2025:
5:48 AM Officer Dale investigated a catalytic converter theft near Haley & Bettencourt Streets.
7:00 AM Officer C. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary on Mayhews Landing Road. The door lock was punched open, resulting in the loss of various power tools.
10:29 AM CSO Lau responded to the theft of a catalytic converter near Willow St & Peachtree Ave.
10:43 AM Vehicle Abatement Officer (VBO) Heckman was on routine patrol and recovered a stolen vehicle near Moores Ave & Cherry St.
2:16 PM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a commercial burglary reported near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave.
2:38 PM Officer Shaffer responded to a disturbance on Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 35-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
3:31 PM Officer Kim investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Mowry Ave & Cherry St.
4:01 PM Officer Quinonez investigated a catalytic converter theft reported near Thornton Ave & Willow St.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 12, 2025:
9:17 AM CSO Lau responded to a vehicle burglary on Sycamore St & Thornton Ave. The rear compartment was cut open resulting in the loss of various power tools.
12:05 PM Officer Berlanga was dispatched to investigate a shoplifting incident near Cedar & Stevenson Boulevards.
3:37 PM Officer Lor contacted a 22-year-old male for trespassing near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave. He was cited for an outstanding warrant.
7:30 PM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a shoplifting incident reported near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave. A 28-year-old female was arrested for robbery and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:17 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a retail theft reported on Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 29-year-old male was contacted and arrested for grand theft and violation of probation. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 2025:
10:32 AM CSO Lau investigated a catalytic converter theft reported near Hickory St & Seawind Way.
2:45 PM Officer Berlanga investigated the theft of jewelry from Newpark Mall Road.
4:17 PM CSO Mora investigated a commercial burglary near Clark Ave & Cherry St.
11:34 PM While on routine patrol, Officer Shaffer contacted a 36-year-old male near I-880 & Central Ave. The male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 2025:
8:34 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred near Cedar Blvd & McDonald Ave. The loss is currently unknown.
8:24 AM Officer Lara responded to a disturbance near Cedar Court & Cedar Blvd. A 36-year-old male was arrested for outstanding warrants, violation of probation, possession of narcotics, and possession of fraudulent documents. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:21 PM Officer Pacheco responded to Newark & Cedar Boulevards for a citizen’s request. A 20-year-old male was located with outstanding warrants and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:58 PM Officer Lor investigated a license plate theft near Cherry St & Robertson Ave.
1:28 PM Officer Berlanga investigated a vehicle theft that occurred on Joaquin Murieta Ave.
4:14 PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated two window smash vehicle burglaries that occurred near Newark Blvd & Bellhaven Ave. Reported loss included industrial tools.
4:34 PM Officer Lara investigated a catalytic converter theft near Bettencourt St & Indian Wells Dr.
9:04 PM Officer Kim arrested a 49-year-old male for trespassing and loitering on Filbert St. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SATURDAY, MARCH 15, 2025:
8:18 AM Officer Stevenson responded to a disturbance in the area of Newark & Cedar Blvds. A 43-year-old male was arrested for criminal threats and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SUNDAY, MARCH 16, 2025:
12:01 AM Officer C. Torres initiated a traffic stop on Newark Blvd & Brittany Ave. A 34-year-old male was cited for an outstanding warrant.
1:01 AM Officer Orozco investigated a collision reported on Mayhews Landing Rd. A 25-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
1:19 AM Officer C. Torres was on routine patrol and initiated a traffic stop near Civic Terrace Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 55-year-old male was cited for public intoxication.
10:14 AM Officer Lomeli was dispatched to a retail theft report on Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave.
