Be Aware of a Resurfacing TikTok Challenge Trend Where Teens Kick on Doors and Flee Similar to Ding Dong Ditch
An old TikTok challenge is resurfacing and we'd like to bring it to your attention for your awareness and to talk about it with your teens if you're a parent. The Door Kick Challenge has young people kicking on doors to homes and businesses, in a similar fashion to "ding dong ditch", where they just kick the door and run. While foolish, people participating are causing damage.
This type of prank can also be very dangerous. In an age where home invasions exist and people still use firearms to protect themselves and their property, youngsters can find themselves hurt or even killed by homeowners who believe they may be victims of a crime and fear for their safety.
The damage caused by this type of behavior is considered vandalism and is a crime. It can range from a misdemeanor to felony depending on the cost to repair the damage.
This is not harmless fun. There are consequences and only a matter of time before the groups committing these crimes are caught. There are so many witnesses and security cameras out there that it isn't worth the jail time or potential harm that could come just for some stupid antics.
To learn more about this trend, view this old KTVU Fox 2 segment on it from 3 years ago.
