The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of March 9, 2025 – March 15, 2025.        
 
March 9, 2025

• Aggravated Assault:

2000 Block of Capehart Avenue. On March 9, 2025 at 1:15 AM, the suspect and victim, who are in a dating relationship, were at the location when they began to argue over relationship issues. The argument became assaultive when the suspect placed his hands around the victim’s neck and pushed her to the bed. The victim escaped from the suspect, where she called “911”. Responding deputies arrested the suspect, who was still at the location. No surveillance video is available.

March 10, 2025

• Grand Theft:

900 Block of Lewiston Street. Between 11:15 PM on March 9, 2025 and 8 AM on March 10, 2025, the suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s catalytic converter to their parked vehicle, a gray 2017 Toyota Corolla. The loss was approximately $1,000. No surveillance video is available.
 

• Grand Theft Auto:

900 Block of Juniper Street. Between 12 PM on March 8, 2025 and 8:38 AM on March 10, 2025, the suspect(s) unknown stole the victim's parked vehicle, a grey 2021 Infiniti Q50. No surveillance video is available.
 

• Grand Theft:

2237 Huntington Drive (Duarte Smoke Shop). On March 10, 2025 at 8:23 PM, the suspects, two male black adults wearing black hoodies and black pants, entered the location and went directly to a plastic display case holding lottery tickets. The suspects grabbed the case, causing it to fall to the ground and break. The suspects took the lottery tickets, exited the location without attempting to purchase the items, and fled towards the 210 freeway in a white Scion. Surveillance video is available. The stolen merchandise was approximately $20,000.

March 13, 2025

• Robbery (Strong Arm):

1263 Huntington Drive (Starbucks). On March 13, 2025 at 3 PM, the suspect, a male Asian adult wearing a blue jumpsuit with an orange construction vest, attempted to take the victim's purse that was on the table between her and her friend. The friend intervened when the suspect grabbed the purse away from the suspect. A struggle occurred, where the victim fell to the floor. The suspect continued to take the purse and began to kick the victim while she was on the ground. The suspect eventually gave up and fled the location, where he was detained a short distance away by deputies. Surveillance video is available. The stolen merchandise was valued at approximately $500. 

March 14, 2025

• An unlocked car is an open invitation to a car thief.
• Lock up when you leave your car and take the keys with you.
• Lock the trunk or tailgate.
• Close all windows. Professional thieves have tools that unlock cars through the smallest openings. 
• When you park the car, remove cellular phones and other valuable possessions. Do not leave anything lying on the seat.
• Lock all valuables in your trunk or take them with you.
• Lock your car even if you quickly stop at the gas station, convenience store, or mini mall.
