Wildfire Risk is High - Refrain From All Burning
Due to the current dry ground conditions in our area, the fire department has responded to several field fires, including one that burned several acres. These fires started as small brush burn piles but quickly spread out of control because of the dry conditions and windy weather.
We request that you postpone any open burning in the township until we receive substantial rainfall and the ground conditions improve. The wildfire risk in our area is currently rated as HIGH. Here’s what this designation means:
**Fire Danger Level: HIGH**
When the fire danger is rated "High," fires can easily start from a variety of causes. Small fuels, such as grasses and needles, ignite readily. Unattended campfires and brush fires are likely to escape containment. Fires can spread quickly, especially in areas with slopes or concentrated fuels, and can become severe and difficult to control unless extinguished while they are still small.
Please do not risk your property, your neighbor's property, or the safety of our firefighters. Remember, you are liable for any damage caused by your fire.
Instructions:
Do not open burn until we receive considerable rainfall and ground conditions improve.
