Vehicle Check Leads to Discovery of Narcotics for Sales

LOCATION: Baseline Rd/ Archibald Ave, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT(S): Joel Mark Thompson, Age 32, Resident of Upland
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Friday, March 10, 2025, at approximately 11:10 P.M., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station conducted a vehicle check on a BMW.
Deputies contacted the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, later identified as Joel Mark Thompson, a resident of Upland. Through investigation, Thompson was found to have an active felony arrest warrant for narcotics. Deputies searched the vehicle and located approximately one-half a pound of suspected methamphetamine and a locked portable safe under the driver seat.
Deputies authored a search warrant for the portable safe located in the vehicle. During the execution of the search warrant, deputies located additional suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, baggies, digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and US currency. Thompson was found to have prior arrests for narcotics sales.
The vehicle was towed and stored for safekeeping. Thompson was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for his felony arrest warrant and H&S 11351-Possession of a controlled substance and H&S 11378- Possession of a controlled substance for sale.
