Red Flag Warning until 08:00PM Saturday

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT SATURDAY 12 PM TO 8 PM MDT ACROSS THE SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT SATURDAY 12 PM TO 8 PM MDT ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL NEW MEXICO (BELOW SNOWPACK) DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... .After lighter winds on Friday, westerly winds will become strong across central and eastern parts of the forecast area Saturday as a storm system moves across the northern and central Rockies. Very low humidity values combined with above average temperatures and the aforementioned west winds will result in the potential for rapid fire growth along and east of the central mountain chain. The Fire Weather Watch remains for zones across north central NM due to marginal minimum relative humidity values in the upper teens to low 20s. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from noon to 8 PM MDT Saturday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AREA AND TIMING...Sandia and Manzano Mountains (Zone 124), Northeast Highlands and Plains (Zones 123 and 104) and the Central Highlands and East Central Plains (Zones 125 and 126) Saturday from noon to 8 PM MDT.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...West 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum humidity between 7 and 16 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHEAST PLAINS ... NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS ... SANDIA AND MANZANO MOUNTAINS ... CENTRAL HIGHLANDS ... EAST CENTRAL PLAINS
