South Brunswick PD Hosts Charity Hockey Game
On Saturday, the South Brunswick Police Department hosted a charitable hockey game at the ProSkate Ice Arena in Monmouth Junction between South Brunswick’s PBA Local 166 and members of the Edison Fire Department.
The event, which was held in honor of 4-year-old Teddy Connolly, raised $5,375 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and raise awareness of CALD, a neurological disease that primarily affects children.
The game was the 3rd annual fundraising competition between the two teams. The event is organized by South Brunswick Police Sgt. Jarrid Harpster, and each year it benefits a different cause.
“We wouldn’t be able to do this event without support from the community and their contributions to a great cause,” Harpster said.
Approximately 300 fans were treated to a back-and-forth game between the first responders. But Edison Fire netted a few late goals and prevailed over South Brunswick’s finest in the end, 7-3.
