Celebration of Life for Firefighter Anthony Ganzler Scheduled for March 27th at 11 a.m. Community Encouraged to View via Livestream

The Memorial Service for Fremont Fire Department firefighter Anthony Ganzler will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, at District Church (7000 Rossmore Lane, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762) in El Dorado Hills.

Ganzler, off-duty, had a cardiac event on the morning of Monday, March 17, at home in Elk Grove, CA.

During the Celebration of Life on Thursday, Ganzler will be joined by his family, friends, the Fremont Fire Department and Fremont Firefighters-International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 1689 and their families, the El Dorado County Fire Protection District and El Dorado County Professional Firefighters Association-IAFF Local 3556 and their families, retired and active service members, countless law enforcement and public safety agency officials, invited guests, and community members.

“Anthony was a lion of a man, with a warm personality, a great sense of humor, a formidable stature, and an often outrageously large mustache. He was a loving husband to Erin, a devoted father to Savannah and Abigail, and a cherished member of our fire family,” Fremont Firefighters Association President Kyle Sater shared in a statement on Monday.

Ganzler joined the Fremont Fire Department in 2019, and prior to becoming a Fremont firefighter, served in the El Dorado County Fire Department from 2015 to 2019. Ganzler’s service and commitment to others predates his time as a firefighter; he served in the United States Army 173rd Airborne Division for more than eight years.

“Anthony’s warmth, resilient spirit and humor made him loved by everyone he came in contact with. His passing is a tremendous loss for our department and the community,” stated Fire Chief Zoraida Diaz.

In lieu of flowers, the Fremont Firefighters Association-IAFF Local 1689 has created an online opportunity to support the Ganzler family via Go Fund Me: https://gofund.me/530e1fff

Check donations may also be made out to the Fremont Firefighters Benevolent Fund (please note Ganzler Memorial in the memo line of the check) and mailed to P.O. Box 1134, Fremont, CA 94538.

The service will be open to the public but due to limited capacity at the church, the community is encouraged to watch the livestream of the memorial on the Fremont Fire Department YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/@fremontfire
