Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges following an investigation.
Beginning in March, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into illegal drug sales in the 2200 block of North Tatnall Street. On March 21, at approximately 11:11 a.m., police executed a search warrant in that block and took 54-year-old Donald Sparks into custody without incident. Police recovered a .38 caliber handgun, 1.9 grams of crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
Sparks has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $16,200 secured bail.
